Kinetic Donates Over $26,000 to Charity
On Saturday, June 21st employees gathered from Kinetic’s Vancouver, Courtenay and Victoria offices for the annual Kinetic Employee Golf Tournament. A big part of this event is the charity auction where all funds raised are matched dollar for dollar by Kinetic.
The purpose of the prize auction is to fundraise for selected charities, but it is also a chance to have fun. As in years past, we succeeded on both counts.
With employee contributions matched by Kinetic we were able to donate over $26,000 to the BC Cancer Foundation.
Rick L’Ecuyer, a long time Kinetic employee, was diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer in March and given only months to live. and received the emotional surprise at the event. Bill Gyles announced that the bulk of the funds raised would go to BC Cancer Foundation in Rick’s name.
“It was really heartwarming and touching – I’m very honoured,” said Rick, who was given months to live at the time of his diagnosis in March.
The $26,926.48 donation (including $6,000 from subcontractor Power Test, Inc.) to the BC Cancer Foundation will support the Patient Care Fund at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre.
Rick, who still works regularly at Kinetic between his chemotherapy sessions, said he is appreciative of the care he’s received at the Centre and the overwhelming support he’s received on many fronts.
“I’ve been given tremendous support from my wife Shelley, family, and everyone at Kinetic,” he said. “And the staff and volunteers at the BC Cancer Agency are like family to me – I’m always in amazing company.”
